HEAT TRANSFER IN FORCED CONVECTION APPARATUS

Technical Description:

Theapparatus consists of blower unit fitted with the test pipe.

Nichromewire heater surrounds the test section.

FourTemperature Sensors are embedded in the test section, two placed in the airstream at the entrance and exit of the test section to measure the inlet andoutlet air temperature.

Testpipe is connected to the delivery side of the blower along with the orifice tomeasure the flow of air through the pipe.

Constantheat flux is given to pipe by an electric heater through a variac and measuredby Digital Voltmeter and Digital Ammeter.

Learning Objectives/Experiments:

To determine average surface heat transfer coefficient for a pipeby forced convection.

Comparison of heat transfer coefficient for different airflowrates and heat flow rates.

To plot surface temperature distribution along the length of pipe.
